Meet Mr. GravesA former Patriot himself, Michael graduated from Broadalbin Perth Central School in 2004 and went on to study Music Education at Schenectady County Community College where he received his Associates’ degree. He then obtained his Bachelor’s degree from the Crane School of Music, and a Master’s degree from the College of St. Rose.
He has been a music teacher in Upstate New York for over a decade. Prior to Broadalbin, Michael taught instrumental music at both Chatham and Northville Central Schools. Mr. Graves has been a chairperson for All-County bands in both Columbia and Fulton Counties. He has been a guest judge for adjudication festivals in Rensselaer County as well as a guest conductor for both the 2014 Rensselaer County Middle School All-County Band and the 2018 Columbia County Middle School All-County Band. He currently serves as President of the Fulton County Music Educators Association. Outside of public school, Michael has performed as a drummer in the country/folk/bluegrass band “The North & South Dakotas”. They have recorded two EP’s and released a full length album titled “Been Away” in 2016. The Dakotas have toured the east coast and have shared the stage with acts such as Robert Randolph, The Rascals, Cabinet, Gedeon and the People, Ryan Montbleau, Wild Adriatic, Waylon Speed, The Mallet Brothers Band, Deer Tick, and many more. Mr. Graves enjoys spending time going on adventures with his beautiful wife Cailyn and his three handsome boys Jack, Henry, and Luke. They are a family of sport lovers and outdoor enthusiasts who take full advantage of living in the Adirondacks. |
